The Long Way Round

What does it mean to be an expatriate? How does living in foreign countries for extended periods alter our perception and change us? In his ninth published work, the author draws heavily on autobiographical as well as anecdotal sources to present a series of reflections on the lives of expatriates. The author also details his experience of trying unsuccessfully to return to his hometown after more than eighteen years resident in Japan. It presents an unvarnished and very personal account of his journey "the long way round".
