My Way Home EP

Just when you thought the heat of the summer had disappeared Brett Johnson and Mike Shannon team up to light the fire again with the BBQ project. Delivering some grooves inspired by the warmth of the summer the two legends come together to reflect in the studio and bring you the “My Way Home EP". Things start off with the BBQ project’s inspiring track called “BBQ Bounce". A playful Brett Johnson style groove and a bubbling Mike Shannon style lead synth hold things together here building things up to a monster walking bassline drop. Then a rhodes electric piano style stab keeps things pushing up, breaking into a warmth of chords for several bars and then dropping you back into the heat again. On the flip we have a deep end of the pool house burner with the sultry vocal styling of Amsterdam’s Coco Jones. “My Way Home” again is a combo of the two producers signature styles of mutated swing and razor sharp synth work but this time with Coco’s dreamy vocals adding the icing to the deepdish cake. Of course there are two alternate dub versions to keep the mix friendly djs happy, one mix on the lighter side with the smooth melody in tact and one version slightly more aggressive in the drums and synth department.
