Dim Probs Gruff Rhys

Gruff Rhys returns with Dim Probs, his ninth solo album and fourth long-player entirely in Welsh (Cymraeg) – his first released through Rock Action Records. The album features backing vocals from fellow Welsh artists Cate Le Bon and H. Hawkline, and was co-produced with Ali Chant (known for work with Yard Act and PJ Harvey).

Recorded with an intimate, hypnotic approach, the album blends acoustic folk warmth with subtle, primitive electronic textures. Many tracks are stripped back to just voice and guitar, creating the sensation of standing right beside the singer in the studio. Across its 12 tracks, Dim Probs balances meditative simplicity with rich melodic detail, echoing the stripped intimacy of Rhys’ 2005 debut Yr Atal Genhedlaeth while retaining the expansive, reflective tone of 2021’s Seeking New Gods.
