This was a period of transition for the trumpeter and leader, which would culminate in his late 50's masterpiece Kind Of Blue. Here he works with such legendary names as Charles Mingus, John Lewis, Max Roach, Percy Heath, Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Elvin Jones and Thelonious Monk. The list is quite breathtaking and so is the music, superbly re-mastered on this double CD.
