Six Swinging Strings
Al Casey
The first ever reissue of the classic 1981 studio set from a pioneering jazz guitarist. An album that defines swinging jazz. Al Casey is most famous for his collaborations with Fats Waller but his career also took in bebop (he was the only musician to play with both Fats Waller and Fats Navarro..) and rhythm & blues sessions with King Curtis. He recorded very, very few albums under his own name but this session demonstrates that he was a superb leader too-swinging jazz, stylish guitar with a lovely tone and spirited improvisation. The session also featured Gene Rodgers on piano (and guest vocals on three tracks), the piano player who is famous for being on the Coleman Hawkins 'Body & Soul' session. Superb studio sound too.
