In 1971, Humble Pie was the opening act for Grand Funk Railroad. The Shea Stadium, the former baseball stadium of the New York Mets, was packed to the rafters, but the weather was not on their side: it was raining heavily and a storm was brewing – quite literally! It was clear to all the band members that they had to perform at the risk of their lives if they wanted to take advantage of this unique opportunity.
