"Sparkle and Fade" from 1995 was the second album of the band Everclear and their first with the label Capitol Records. Gary Gersh, who had already signed Nirvana, Sonic Youth and the Counting Crows to DGC Records, was responsible for the record deal. While the first single "Heroin Girl" played on MTV but otherwise remained largely under the mainstream radar, the second single "Santa Monica" became a hit.
