During the mid-50s, Belfast-born Ruby Murray, with her distinctive, husky-yet-velvety voice, was the most successful British-born artist in the UK. Indeed, in January 1955, at the age of only nineteen, she had five discs concurrently in the Top 20, including the No. 1, 'Softly, Softly', a record which would remain intact until the dreaded Digital era.
