The Journal

Carolyn Wade was 17 years old the day she vanished. A typical teenager with dreams of a future and the day she
could move away from Carolina and travel to bigger and better places.

She woke early that morning just like every other day to get ready for school. It took her an hour to pick out
her outfit, put on her makeup and make sure her dark brown hair was curled to perfection. She always wanted
to look her best.

"I'm leaving for school. I'll see you later."

"Ok, I'll see you for supper. Don't forget your notes for the student council meeting. Hey, good luck on your
History test." The voice from the back room was the last time Carolyn heard her mother.

Carolyn took her History test and felt positive she had passed. The students were allowed to leave the
classroom after they finished, but had to stay on campus. Carolyn chose to sit outside in the sunshine to go over her
notes for the council meeting when a man sat next to her.

"Hello, Carolyn." She wasn't startled at all because she knew him and was expecting him sometime soon.
"I brought the information you were looking for. Read it and make up your own mind like I did." He walked
down the sidewalk away from Carolyn. She left campus with the large envelope tucked in her purse.

She walked home, grabbed some clothes, got in her car and drove to the Wade estate to be alone while she read
the contents of the envelope.

She read the information in silence. She was never seen in Carolina again.
