While visiting her aunt and uncle in North Carolina, she confides in one of their friends, Duffy. Not only does he give her a place to stay at his home he calls Raven Ridge, he treats her with the respect she deserves. Although Cindy suffers many challenges, Duffy's influence helps her become a confident adult.
