Walter Bagehot
Walter Bagehot's Economic Studies is a detailed discussion of English political economy as it was influenced by economists of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. As former editor-in-chief of The Economist, Bagehot reveals an intimate knowledge of the factors that define England's economy. He explores the ideas of economists like Adam Smith, Thomas Robert Malthus, and David Ricardo; he then applies many different approaches to economic studies in the final chapters entitled "The Growth of Capital" and "Cost of Production." British journalist WALTER BAGEHOT(1826-1877) was an early editor of The Economist and was among the first economists to discuss the concept of the business cycle. He is also the author of The English Constitution(1867), Physics and Politics (1872), and The Postulates of English Political Economy (1885).
