"Now, I'm going to put you on this branch. You just sit right here until the rain is over and then I will come back for you. The leaves will protect you from the rain and if you happen to fall again, you won't have very far to fall," Lori said to the little bird. "I have to hurry home now before it starts raining, but don't go away. I'll be back as soon as I can." "Here kitty. Here kitty. Come here," said Jamie. They both loved to pet Samson, but Samson didn't want to stay around to be petted. He seemed to be in a big hurry to go some place. The children didn't understand why he was in such a hurry. After all, he always liked to be petted. Samson darted past them as fast as he could, looking scared as if something was after him. "Hey! Did you see me do that? I would like to tell you how I learned to do that, but first, we need a ride home. Angle and I are lost out here. Can you help us?" The man looked at him with big eyes and Dazz could see he was frightened. The man started his car and sped away very fast, leaving the bird and the kitten by the side of the road in a cloud of dust. That made Dazz feel very sad. One of the creatures came close and waved a sparkling wand in front of them. "Don't be afraid of me. I am Barella, queen of the fairies, and our home is here in this forest. Up there, she said pointing to a fairy on a high branch, is Skylar, our Fairy King. All the fairies live here together. We enjoy watching people come here for picnics, playing games, and having all sorts of fun. In the daytime no one can see us, only when it is dark. That is why you can see us now." Mugzy and Puncher looked at Sampson with squinted eyes, and snarled loudly, "Meaooooow. What's going on here?" "Nothing," said Sampson. "Can't you see this bird thinks he can whip us. Can you believe a bird would try a thing like that?" Sampson moved cautiously toward Dazz. He looked back at his two friends and said, "Well, come on! Let's get this bird!" Sampson wasn't feeling too brave. He remembered so well what happened the last time he met up with this little bird and he was sure he wouldn't let it happen again.
