Pacifica kicks off proceedings with a bang thanks to 3 dynamite re-versions from Dominic 'DJD' Dawson. Dom's heritage stretches back across releases for some of the best dance music labels ever to have existed and with scores of original productions, collaborations and remixes under his belt the time has come for him to deftly drop 3 edits that show your average software bumbler how things are done. The A side is a familiar Main Ingredient track on first listen but what we have here is the the later Streetwise version recorded by Cuba Gooding in 1983 after he had gone solo. More specifically this is the DJD dub interpretation with extra drums, FX and a seriously Dubwise sensibility. On the flip 70's French afro funk band Tumblack, whose only LP is now highly sought after and well into 3 figures if you can find it, gets a similarly refined treatment. This edit stretches out the 4 minute original to near double that with killer beats and a bassline that Arthur Russell would be proud of! And finally, "Arkade Funk" is a track by Trouble Funk under a different guise, Tilt. Major B-Boy vibes ensue on this cut that builds into a euphoric synth crescendo tease before laying down the unstoppable groove once more. Super high quality re-edits on limited hand stamped wax.
