St. Louis Blues/to Whom It May Concern
Nat King Cole
'St. Louis Blues' is a soundtrack with beautiful orchestration by Nelson Riddle and excellent interpretations by that wonderful unique smooth voice from Nat King Cole who knew how to sing the blues. On "To Whom It May Concern" Nat sings this beautiful torch song with panache and he makes it sound as smooth as silk! Especially because of Nat's fine interpretation of this ballad. The percussion adds to the beauty of the melody, too. "Love-Wise" continues with another lush arrangement by Nelson Riddle and Nat sings this with all his heart and soul. "Lovesville" has a great chorus to backup Nat's singing, and this all works very well. The big band style arrangement helps this number hold its own without any difficulties. Two brilliant albums.
