Wayne County
While David Bowie had seemed sexually threatening as Ziggy Stardust, he paled in comparison to Wayne County. In 1974, the Pandora's Box of trans-sexuality had not yet been opened in rock 'n' roll, though Lou Reed and Alice Cooper, as well as Bowie, had dabbled in it. Then came Wayne County! This recording is from a live performance at the Westbeth Theatre in Manhattan and was financed and produced by Bowie's Mainman organization. This performance was revolutionary in many ways. Wayne County was the most outrageous and challenging character rock 'n' roll had ever seen. Every song had it's own scenery, props, costumes etc like a Broadway play and heavily influenced Bowie's Diamond Dogs tour which followed. Light In The Attic. 2006.
