For this remix album, The High Llamas ignore the usual constraints of the form, bypassing mere dance floor utility in favor of genuinely interesting sonic reinventions. The remixers-Mouse on Mars, Cornelius, Schneider TM, Jim O'Rourke, Kid Loco, Stock Hausen and Walkman, and highest Llama Sean O'Hagan-mostly keep only the barest outlines of the original tracks, refashioning each in their own styles. Mouse on Mars' wibbly-wobbly analogue synthesizers, Cornelius' playful Brian Wilson homages, Kid Loco's slinky groove, and O'Rourke's soundscapes are probably the most successful, but there's little tedium on this 46-minute album.
