Symphony No.1
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
This outstanding recording of Gustav Mahler's Symphonie Nr. 1 is presented here by the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under the baton of Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Symphonie No. 1 was composed by Mahler between 1887 and 1888, and incorporates music that the composer had originally written for previous works. While it was originally created as a tone poem of symphonic poem, it grew into it's four-movement form and was henceforth described as a symphony. Pianist and composer Yannick Nezet-Seguin currently holds positions with the Ochestre Metropolitain (Montreal), the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
