This interesting reissue from 1977 features two iconic performers - the great tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine and the wonderful jazz/pop/R&B vocalist Gloria Lynne each performing decidedly funky arrangements of popular tunes. Turrentine performs a set recorded in 1974 featuring Joan Crowler (piano) Freddy Robinson, Al Vescovo (guitar) Wilton Felder (bass) Paul Humphrey (drums) King Errison (conga) Victor Feldman (percussion) with arrangements by Art Freeman and Monk Higgins. Gloria Lynne performs a set recorded in 1970 featuring Robert "Pops" Popwell and Rinie Press on bass, Paul Humphrey and Johnny Sandlin on drums, Victor Feldman on vibes and percussion, Al Vescovo, Jesse Carr and Mike Deasy on guitars, Evelyn Freeman and Paul Hornsby on piano, Art Maebe on French horn, Gene "Bow Legs" Miller and the Macon Horn Section, and a string section arranged by Art Freeman. All selections newly re-mastered.
