Flamingos
One of the finest and most influential vocal groups in pop music history, The Flamingos defined doo-wop at it's most elegant and sophisticated, their superb harmonies were the precursor of the Motown Sound of the early 1960's and the Philly Soul of the following decade. Hailing from Baltimore, the group featured Sollie McElroy on lead, the tenor voices of Zeke Carey and Johnny Carter, Paul Wilson's baritone and Zeke's cousin Jake Carey on bass voice. Collected here are their finest recordings from their tenure with Chicago's Parrot label in the early 1950's. All selections newly re-mastered.
