John Coltrane
In October 1960, John Coltrane's prolific sessions for his Atlantic album My Favorite Things produced enough material for three albums. One of these was Coltrane Plays the Blues, released in 1961, on which the jazz musician played soprano saxophone for the first time. The album also features McCoy Tyner, Steve Davis and Elvin Jones, who recorded 'Blues to Bechet', 'Blues to Elvin' and 'Blues to You', among others.
