Recorded in New York from 1934-1935, the instrumentation on this CD features trumpet, two reeds, piano, banjo and/or guitar, washboard and at least one vocalist. Two sessions are included: one is an assortment of so-called "warhorses," tunes that would have been well-known to the musicians and presumable easy to "knock-off" for a group put together strictly for the session. The second session consists of renditions of contemporary pop tunes. Features Taft Jordan, Carl Wade, Elmer Williams, Steve Washington, Ghost Howell, Jake Fenderson and Eddie Foster, with vocals by Jake Fenderson, Eddie Foster and an unknown trio.
