Kinds Of Kindness

"Kinds of Kindness" is a 2024 anthology film by greek film auteur Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, Poor Things). Structured as a triptych, the film presents three loosely connected stories that explore themes of control, identity, and the dark complexities of human relationships.

In the first story, a man named Robert (played by Jesse Plemons) is trapped in an unusually close, oppressive relationship with his controlling boss, Raymond (Willem Dafoe). The second story focuses on Daniel, a police officer whose wife, Liz (Emma Stone), returns after being lost at sea, but Daniel grows convinced she is an imposter. The third tale revolves around Emily (Stone again), a member of a bizarre cult desperately searching for a woman who possesses resurrection powers.

Through these unsettling narratives, Kinds of Kindness delves into the lengths people go to for acceptance, power, and escape from toxic dynamics. With its characteristic dark humor, bizarre scenarios, and emotional complexity, the film provokes reflection on the nature of kindness, often masked as cruelty or control.
