Six classic films noir produced by Columbia Pictures in the 1940s and '50s. In 'Walk a Crooked Mile' (1948) FBI agent Dan O'Hara (Dennis O'Keefe) and Detective Philip Grayson (Louis Hayward) team up to investigate a leak concerning a communist spy ring in a Californian atomic research plant. In 'Walk East On Beacon' (1952) FBI agent Jim Belden (George Murphy) investigates a communist spy ring operating in Boston.
In 'Pushover' (1954) the wife of a bank robber has an affair with a police officer whom she draws into her plot to take the stolen money for herself. In 'A Bullet Is Waiting' (1954) a sheriff hunts down a criminal who escapes custody after their plane crashes in a remote part of California. 'Chicago Syndicate' (1955) follows accountant Barry Amsterdam (O'Keefe) as he goes undercover to infiltrate a branch of the Chicago Mafia.
Finally, in 'The Brothers Rico' (1957) a former accountant for the Mob is forced to return to his criminal past when he learns that two of his brothers have disappeared.
