Director Wim Wenders bites the hand that feeds in this incisive commentary on the film industry at large. Finding himself and his crew financially adrift in Portugal, with no producer and no money to finish his film, director Friedrich Munro (Patrick Bauchau) heads for Hollywood to find a backer. But as he does the rounds of the studios in search of finance, Munro soon discovers that art counts for little in the land where box office success rules supreme.
