The tumultuous events surrounding the sub-continent's partition in 1947 into India and Pakistan are re-imagined in Ken McMullen's complex and visually striking film. A lunatic asylum in Lahore provides a mirror image of the political and social events happening in the outside world. The same actors are used for both inmates and rulers.
This powerful film was made 40 years after partition by artist and director, Ken McMullen, adapted in collaboration with Tariq Ali from the short story, 'Toba Tek Singh', by acclaimed Urdu writer, Sadaat Hasan Manto.
