Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were brothers, Philipp his father was a highly regarded district magistrate in Steinau an der Straße, about 50 km from Hanau (Germany). They were hardworking students throughout their education. The Grimms believed that the most natural and pure forms of culture were linguistic and based on history. These are some of the fairy tales: OLD SULTANThe old sultan is a dog which is already of advanced age, he has faithfully served his master and has protected his sheep from a wolf for many years, a cat friend of the sultan learns that his master is going to kill him It is no longer useful to have him as a pet, the sultan when he found out decides to go to the forest, there he meets the wolf who gave him problems in the past, the wolf, knowing the situation in which he is, decides to help him to return to be accepted into the family. RAPUNZELA blacksmith finds himself in dire straits when his pregnant wife has extreme cravings for radishes that can only be obtained from a cruel witch's garden. The desperate blacksmith takes the radishes but is caught by the sorceress, who gives them to him in exchange for the baby being delivered to him when it is born. The woman has a girl whom they call Rapunzel, and to her desolation and that of her husband, the old woman takes the newborn girl to live in a tower that has no doors. THE WATER OF LIFEA king, now elderly and widowed for five years, is seriously ill and, according to a legend told by a wise old man from one of the kingdom's villages, the only remedy to cure him is the miraculous water of life. The king's eldest son's thirst for power is immeasurable and, convinced that his father will name him his successor, he sets out in search of precious water. In the forest, he meets an old man who is sleeping in a tree and harasses him.
