Daddy-Long-Legs (Annotated)
Jean Webster
Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster. This book contains a historical context, where past events or the study and narration of these events are examined. The historical context refers to the circumstances and incidents surrounding an event. This context is formed by everything that, in some way, influences the event when it happens. A fact is always tied to its time: that is, to its time. Therefore, when analyzing events that took place tens, hundreds or thousands of years ago, it is essential to know the historical context to understand them. Otherwise, we would be analyzing and judging what happened in a totally different era with a current perspective. It is a 1912 epistolary novel by the American writer Jean Webster. She follows the protagonist, Jerusha "Judy" Abbott, when she leaves an orphanage and is sent to college by a benefactor whom she has never seen. Jerusha Abbott was raised at the John Grier Home, a former orphanage. Children were completely dependent on charity and had to wear other people's discarded clothes. Jerusalem's unusual first name was selected by the tombstone matron (she hates it and uses "Judy" instead), while her last name was selected from the phone book
