One Summer in MesertaIn 1963, Meserta, Mississippi, located on the Gulf of Mexico is an oasis for the people in the southern part of the state as well as to the many vacationers visiting for the summer. Carter brings economic relief to the Meserta community with his aggressive pursuit for government military contracts for his expanding company. His successful fabric and mill company is one of the largest companies and employers in southern Mississippi. It helps him to weld political power throughout the state.
