Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904) was a prominent Russian playwright and writerborn in Taganrog, Russian Empire. He is considered by many to be one of the greatestwriters of short fiction in history and along with August Strindberg and Henrik Ibsen isoften seen as one of the three seminal figures in the birth of early modernism in theatre.
