"Madam Sapphira" is a vivid study in unchastened womanhood. Her character is exposed to us through the experiences of her poor fool husband, who colloquially would be called a simp, by denizens of the Low World a boob. He redeems himself to some extent by sending Madam Sapphira a belated bouquet of cyanide of potassium. This story about betrayal and love is a must read and had a riveting ending.
