Tropical dairy farming
Clayson Correia de Sousa
At the university we were introduced to the NRC models of dairy cattle nutritional requirerments. But these models were developed in temperate climate countries . In these locals the feedstoof are of better quality due the higher crude protein and low fiber. Instead in our tropical conditions, the feedstoofs are higher fiber and low crude protein but the forage mass production is higher. Thus, we developed our own models to fit the dairy cows diet. Also, the high production cows model does not work to us due our climate. The potencial to dairy farming in Brazil is great. We have large amounts of lands, water and tropical climate which alow us support cattle in pastures the entire year and we are the third dairy producer in the world due our large cattle. In these book you'll learning what can allows Brazil to be the top 1 dairy producer in the world.
