Of the several collections of Life-Shift Stories we published, this is the first one that will be devoted entirely to one special, very serious theme: suicide. Suicide has become a major health problem in the world today. As the World Health Organization (WHO) states: every 40 seconds somebody, somewhere in this world, dies from suicide. And for every suicide-death there are twenty suicide-attempts. In this book we present ten stories of people who experienced the struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts themselves, or who were witness to the dark thoughts and fears of a parent, a sibling, a friend or a colleague. These are poignant stories of courageous people who decided to share their experiences for the benefit of the world. We are very grateful for that and we think you are all wonderful people.
