The Child on the Threshold of the Kingdom seeks to help us ponder on Christ's words affirming our turning to childhood and our becoming child once again. These words don't point to certain qualities of "the little ones" but suggest that we adults must discover God's plan for human beings in the "smallness" of the child. The book is in fact a journey to childhood, to the child, the one that can be found both in the East and the West and in human unconsciousness, in the true image of the Church, in Christian asceticism, in the miracle of a certain primordial discernment of the world, and finally in art and, more specifically, in poetry. The goal of the journey is the view of a future in which the only possible redemption from the advance of globalization and the power of technology over people is to be found in adults' renewed discovery of the child in each of us.
