Our Nights were Born in the Streets
Sarbajit Sarkar
This is a journey of displaced identity-an exile, a dystopia-constantly in search of a home that is nowhere to be found, except on the landscape of language where reality and all its known and unknown possibilities dwell as cohabitants. They exist in a constant flux of love-hate and love-again relationships, exactly in the way human life flows and confronts death and forgetting. This collection is a whirlwind of conversations. It is a memoir, sort of love letters, and also an ongoing dialogue between the man and his times. Sarbajit Sarkar is a poet, writer, painter and critic from Kolkata, India. He has seven collections of poetry, and three anthologies of short stories in Bengali. His critical essays on literature and art have been published in several literary journals, like The Critical Flame, The Indian Express, Sangbad Pratidin, Abahaman, 4numberplatform, among other places.
