Esta antologia de los reportajes mas famosos de Hunter S. Thompson fue un acontecimiento editorial en los Estados Unidos. El autor puso en circulacion el concepto de «periodismo gonzo»: aquel en que el reportero pasa de mero espectador a desencadenante de la accion. Un esplendido ejemplo es el desmadrado reportaje «La gran caza del tiburon», un encargo de Playboy, teoricamente para «cubrir» un torneo de pesca en alta mar frente a las costas de Yucatan. En otros textos de este volumen, el periodista gonzo enfoca su ojo salvaje en figuras como Hemingway o Marlon Brando, organiza una alternativa de «poder freak» en Aspen, etc. / The collection in one volume of the most famous articles by Hunter S. The author put the concept of ""gonzo journalism"" into circulation: when the reporter ceases to be a mere spectator and becomes a part of the action. A perfect example of this is the uninhibited article ""The Great Shark Hunt"", a feature for Playboy, theoretically to ""cover"" a fishing tournament off the Yucatan coast. In other texts of this volume, the gonzo journalist sets his wild sights on figures such as Hemingway or Marlon Brando, he organises an alternative ""Freak Power"" in Aspen, etc.
