The dramaturgy of document theatre in America in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries is an original research, written in Italian, which intends to present, first of all, the multiple aspects of American dramaturgical writing, but also of the theatrical prassis in the field of document theatre. Documentary theatre responds to the calls/needs of the contemporary world, whose artistic awakening is the objective of those who work in it, promoting theatrical art through the use of dramaturgical and directorial innovations. The works of the most deserving writers and directors of this theatrical genre are analyzed, including Hallie Flanagan, Martin Duberman, Anna Deavere Smith, and Emily Mann, but the valuable dramaturgical and directorial work of the City Lights Youth Theater company is also highlighted.
