The Concept of Compassion in Schopenhauer
Bruna Soares Sotero
This manuscript consists in understanding Arthur Schopenhauer's ethics of compassion and elucidating the conceptual elements that constitute his single-minded Philosophy, in order to understand how his ethical perspective can serve as support for the environmental issue, as well as the concept of Will, facilitating the understanding regarding the focus of the problem at hand, which, in synthesis, resides in the criticism of human individualism caused by rationalist egocentrism and its results. And then, we will deepen in Schopenhauer's conception about the moral foundation, where an analysis about the origin of selfishness and the substantial character of human intellect in comparison with non-human animals will be presented.
