The Law of International Armed Conflict in Mali
Idrissa Condé
At the end of my analysis and in the light of all the foregoing, I admit very honestly that had it not been for the French military intervention in Mali without even the endorsement of the United Nations Security Council, the rebels would have occupied most of Mali's territory. Furthermore, I am one of those who welcome UN Security Council Resolution 2085, which not only conferred international legitimacy on the French intervention in Mali, but also triggered a real chain of solidarity58 towards the Malian people, who have been sorely tested by the war in northern Mali. However, will this be enough to stabilise northern Mali once and for all?
