Nagorno-Karabakh

The conflict in Nagorny Karabakh is over 30 years old. The weight of unresolved national problems has led since 1988 to a serious conflict in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations over Nagorny Karabakh. In fact, there is an undeclared war between the two republics, which has not ended to this day because of Nagorno-Karabakh's status. Fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh erupted again on 27 September 2020. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of provocation. Baku took control of several settlements during the armed clashes. On November 9, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan issued a joint statement on ceasefire, according to which the warring parties remain in their occupied positions. Russian peacekeepers arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh. Security for the return of refugees and their movement across the line of contact was ensured under the direction and control of the Inter-Agency Humanitarian Response Centre.
