The Bridge to Manhood: How the Masculine Self is Shaped by the Father-son Relationship
Tony Evans
The Bridge to Manhood explores how men's sense of their own masculinity is deeply influenced by the relationship they had with their fathers when growing up. It focusses on an original piece of doctoral research which employs a unique combination of qualitative research methods to produce a final Masculinity Spectrum. The book also examines masculinity theory from a variety of perspectives: historical, psychoanalytic, object relational, feminist and Foucauldian. Particular attention is paid to what these findings may mean for therapists and psychologists who practise with male clients.
