Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) have been around for centuries. This rhetorical analysis of STD prevention campaigns during World War I and World War II shows the efforts to prevent such diseases. becomes an ideograph in society and shows how American culture defines itself in patriotic ways. Ideas of safe sex and patriotism continue to change over time. This work explores how many of the themes that connected patriotism to safe sex in campaigns prevail today.
