Lifestyles in an Era of Aids: Women Migrant Workers Sexual Behaviour Patterns

HIV/AIDS has had a devastating impact leading to the deaths of millions of people worldwide. Migration has also been found to increase vulnerability to HIV/AIDS with women seeming to be at greater risk of becoming infected. More focus in the past however has been on how migration of men to urban areas has a bearing on their chances of contracting the HIV virus. Information on sexual behaviour patterns among women migratory factory workers in urban areas are largely unaccounted for especially in the East African urban areas. This book therefore presents information on how migration to an urban area and life in a Kenyan urban area could possibly influence young migrant women?s sexual behaviour. This book is a partial input to the unsatisfied demand for more research into sexual behaviour patterns of migrant women workers especially keeping in mind that past research shows migrant women workers stand a greater chance of being infected with the HIV virus. It is expected that the book will prove useful to health workers, psychologists, policy makers and all those involved in the fight to prevent further spread of the HIV virus.
