Night, a Gift or a Curse?
Sammy Ackiley
This is a collection of beautiful long poems on current topics in our society and in the World. The author touches on issues like systemic racism, gun violence, mental illness, wars and tolerance for crime in major cities; effect of the pandemic and modern-day slavery. This poetry collection is a voice that touches on the topics that are fragments of our society that are not easily spoken of.
Everyone tries to be politically correct about things, but the World is still moving in the direction of darkness where post-colonial times look the same as the pre-colonial era. The planet is one jewel, but only a little pocket is going green and being developed, the rest of the world is not. The earth is one beautiful planet, but humans have divided it into pieces. This is a collection that brings readers to discover the beauty of nights when some people live in fear; the beauty of sunrise, sunset and celebrate life in a way that we were meant to.
The feeling created by war terror inspired the title of this book, "Night, a Gift or Curse." The Collection ends with a powerful poem on how the face mask as the greatest agreement humans ever made in history without any treaty or military intervention.
