A RANCHER WHO IS NEAR SUICIDE FROM A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY AT THE HANDS OF A MOTORCYCLE GANG FINDS HIS SOLACE IN HELPING ANOTHER RANCHER SAVE THEIR SPREAD, BUT THIS BRINGS THE WRATH OF THE SAME GANG DOWN ON THEM ALL.
Guzzling alcohol as a way out of this world and into the next, but needing money to finish the job, Cable accepts employment at a dude ranch near the hole in the woods where he stays. What he doesn't expect is that the owners-mother and daughter Caroline and Annie-give him a reason to live and a brute of a horse to break. Yet to continue living means he must finally take responsibility for his violent reaction after losing the two people in the world he loves the most. Cable is eventually forced to confront the gang once again, except now they're on his home turf and he now has help.
What People are Saying about CABLE
CABLE is the guy I want in my corner! Driven, knowledgeable, strong, and fearless. His knowledge of weapons is phenomenal and his accuracy with guns is key to his being able to protect his loved ones and forge ahead in his life when others would not be able to carry on.-Sally Clark, Retired Human Resource Manager
Jeffrey A Pitts ... has the ability to create characters with such depth that I care for them like friends. Do yourself a favor and go on Cable's journey!-Michael Johnson, Washington State DOC Officer
This was my first book written by Jeffrey A Pitts, and I didn't know what to expect. I greatly enjoyed the characters and their transformation throughout the story. The book had me laughing and crying, and I didn't want it to end.-Sandra Brenner, avid reader
Jeffrey A Pitts has done it again with another great story. Characters that draw you in and hold your attention. "Cable" has you going in one direction at first then shifts you in a new one by developing the main character in a completely different way, very multi-dimensional. It was an enjoyable read. Once I started reading, I had to keep going. Thanks, Jeffrey, for another weekend lost in an amazing story!-Carey V. Lasley, D. D. S., Olympia, WA
Read and review a western novel? Not since Louis L'Amour. Yet, I must confess: that which I began reluctantly, I could not put it down. What a portrayal of the human element. From Colorado to Montana, I shared the challenges of people I met along the way. Jeffrey A Pitts is indeed a talented storyteller as well as a student of human nature. ... Absolutely a worthwhile read.-Kathy Simonis, English/LA instructor: White Pass High School WA - Riverside High School, OR
