Journey to the Castle
Ann Finnin
In the summer of 1982, two idealistic and naïve California witches embarked on a quest to find the source of a tradition that had come down to them seven years earlier fragmented and distorted from a teacher who had himself received it in like manner. An opportunity presented itself to travel to England to explore the roots of the tradition and they found that the roots did indeed grow deep in the soil that contained within it some very tainted elements.
In Journey to the Castle, Ann Finnin recounts the story of this journey, with all of its good, bad and ugly elements, whitewashing no one, least of all herself. What the reader comes away with is a frank commentary on the nature of religious and spiritual movements with all of their enlightenment and pitfalls and how human nature can distort even the most lofty of teachings into a means of control and exploitation.
This book is one couple's journey into the underworld. The author sincerely hopes that her and her husband's experiences will serve to provide a warning to some and a solace to others who have engaged on a similar journey with less than desirable results and finally what the future holds for those with the courage and the honesty to embark on such a journey.
