Thus Spake Magnus Dictus is the writings of Jake Stratton-Kent first published in The Eqiunox: British Journal of Thelema issues 1-8, spanning the years 1988-1994 and faithfully reproduced in a facsimile edition.
Jake Stratton-Kent's more recent writings have changed the face of modern magical practices, centring goetia and fostering a healthy, working relationship with the spirits of the grimoires. He cuts an unmistakable figure at occult events, where his bombastic personality coupled with his walking stick and handbag have seen an end to philanderers and agitators. Online, he will strike down your thesis as readily as he will share his hard-earned knowledge. This gleeful 'take no prisoners' attitude shines through these early works, which hearken back to a time when one could have a laugh with the great mysteries and not everything or everyone was so serious.
Thus Spake Magnus Dictus contains essays on the lunar mansions, the creation of talismans, Wicca, Thelema, English Qaballa, mantras, spells, and a Sethian ritual, as well as reviews of books, magazines, and pamphlets.
Some of the material has since been reprinted; an edited version of 'The Headless One' was republished as a Hadean Press Guide to the Underworld in 2012. The Tables of A. M. E. N. have likewise made their appearance elsewhere, most notably in The Serpent Tongue: Liber 187, and the Wakanaba Kamea Extrapolator has been expanded upon in Grimoire of the Sixfold Star, another Guide to the Underworld ascribed to Count Abaka who is of course none other than JSK himself.
