To say these poems are feminist is an understatement; these poems are the female gaze, a way of seeing that emerges after stripping away the man-made system of values that has been instilled in all of us since early childhood. Kathryn McMurray is a poet, wife, mother, and teacher living in Long Beach, California. She earned her MFA from California State University, Long Beach in 2004. Her work has appeared in Re(Verb), The Bastille, Livewire, Pearl, Epicenter, Spork, and Red Rock Review.
