Texas, 1973. Jim Arnett and Avery Gillis served together in Vietnam where they glimpsed the closest to Hell on Earth possible. Still affected by their experiences, they now rob banks across America's southwest as they make their way to a new life in Mexico, away from a country they no longer recognize. However, in the small Texas town of Jackson, a heist goes awry and one of them is badly wounded. As they flee for the Mexican border, they realize they are now stalked by a shadowy figure hell-bent on recovering a long-lost film reel found in a safe deposit box and who kills anyone who gets in his way.
