The children's book Shawn Goes into Foster Care was written to help foster children realize that they are not alone.
Shawn is a young boy who has gone through many changes in his short life. After being taken away from his mother, he is placed in a home full of strangers. His foster family works hard to let Shawn know how much they care about him and how they will work toward getting him back to his mom.
Shawn's foster family becomes very important to him. They help him feel loved and heard. He even makes new friends as he waits to be reunited with his mother.
About the Author: Lisa Stone grew up in Connecticut but always wanted to live in a warmer climate. She now calls North Carolina home. She has written other children's books and also the memoir of her experience as a foster mother, Fostering Uncertainty. "Many of my foster children faced the same fears. They worried that their family would dissolve, and they would never reunite. Also, they were terrified of the unknown. I just felt that I should write a book that could help ease some of their fears. Even though not all families reunite, it is always best to be hopeful and know you are not alone in your struggles."
