The first Collie Walkabout at Woodsboro Park turns tragic when Ellalyn Zoller's beloved tricolor collie, Rainbow, is snatched from her ex-pen and replaced by a bewildered lookalike substitute.
Jennet soon learns that in the past the park has been the scene of two tragedies: a little girl's unsolved disappearance and a boy's drowning. Is the park cursed or just an unlucky place? Or is something sinister going on?
Unfortunately, Jennet's search and her association with Rainbow's owner are mistaken for interference in a bold plot to kidnap and kill an elected official. Before she realizes it, Jennet has unwittingly walked into grave danger with no apparent way to escape the trap set for her.
